Joe Holberg
Chicago, Illinois
Overview
Joe is a leading voice and national expert in financial technology innovation and financial wellness. He is the Founder of Spring, the #1 financial wellness benefit in the US on G2.com for three consecutive years. Spring was acquired by Mariner Wealth Advisors (ranked #4 out of 15,000+ RIAs in the US) in 2023.
He is the author of "Rogue Finances" and "A Brief Discourse on Financial Justice". His track record of rapid innovation and product development is drawn from a variety of experiences including the full startup lifecycle from inception to exit at Spring, working at Google as a founding team member of the CS First platform, building mathematics curricula from scratch as a teacher, and having created a loan underwriting system as employee #1 for the Capital Good Fund, one of the country's largest microfinance organizations.
As a youth and young adult with a long history of receiving public sector benefits such as free and reduced meals (FARM), food stamps, Pell grants, and low income home energy assistance program assistance (LIHEAP) due to financial insecurity and periodic homelessness, Joe is intimately attuned to the myriad opportunities to leverage technology to accelerate and innovate in both the public and private sectors and has demonstrated an unbroken personal and professional commitment to enhancing the social and public sectors in the US since graduation, which was a first (and only) for a member of his family.
He is an amateur bibliophile and gardener, an avid coffee drinker, and a doting husband and father.
